Watch Me: let someone follow your ride
Share a live link with your guardians, set a return time, and what they see if you are late.
Please read: TrottOn does not send alerts by itself at the moment. Your guardians only see that you are overdue while they have your live link open. Nobody is texted, emailed or called automatically. Agree with your guardian what they will do if they cannot reach you.
Before you ride
Watch Me sends your live link to your emergency contacts. Add at least one in Settings > Emergency Contacts.
Start Watch Me
- Start a ride (see Recording a ride).
- In the ride panel, tap Watch Me.
- Choose who to tell, when you expect to be back (from 30 minutes to 4 hours) and, if you like, a note for your guardians.
- Tap Start Watch Me and text guardians. Your phone's messaging app opens with the message and live link filled in. Press send yourself: TrottOn does not send the text for you.
Your guardians see your first name, your horse, your position and your note. Their phone numbers stay on your phone.
While you ride
- I'm OK: check in.
- +30 min: push your return time back.
- Panic: opens a text to your guardians with your position and live link (press send), and the live page shows that you pressed the panic button.
- Turn off: stop Watch Me.
If you are still out 10 minutes after your return time, your phone shows you a reminder to check in.
What your guardian sees
The link opens a live page in any web browser, with no sign-in. It shows your position on a map, distance and time, and updates as you ride. If you are not back 10 minutes after your return time, the page shows that you are overdue and suggests they try calling you, and call 999 if they cannot reach you. If your phone stops sending updates for 10 minutes, the page says when it last heard from you.
The link stops working a few hours after your ride, and an hour after you finish or turn Watch Me off.
