Reporting a hazard
Mark a fallen tree, a locked gate or a boggy patch on the map so other riders know.
Quick report
- On the map, tap +.
- Tap Hazard. It is marked where you are.
The same menu has Livestock and Loose Horse for those situations.
Report with details
Choose Add Location, then pick a type from Hazards & Access, add a title and description, and tap Submit. Types include:
- Hazard
- Gate
- Locked Gate
- Cattle Grid
- Livestock in Field
- Electric Fence
- Fallen Tree
- Muddy Section
- Busy Road Crossing
- Road Crossing
- Low Branch
- Steep Hill
- Boggy Ground
- Access Note
Adding photos to a report is coming soon. You can save a report without one.
Who can see it
Anyone signed in to TrottOn can see hazards on the map. Others can vote a report up or down to show whether it is still there.
Removing a report
- If you added it, open it and tap Delete.
- If someone else added it and it has gone, tap Report as missing. Reports are recorded, but removing a place after reports is not switched on yet, so it stays on the map for now.
- Reports do not disappear on their own yet, so please delete yours when the hazard is cleared.
If the hazard is on a public right of way, please also tell the local council, which is responsible for keeping the route open and safe.
